I have been making jewelry for approximately 37 years starting when I had my store Fast Fanny's Place in Oatman, Arizona. I learned how to make beaded necklaces and designed her jewelry in the Navajo and Southwest styles.
In 2009, I purchased a booth at Wimberley Trade Days in Wimberley, TX. I kept the first booth for three years before trading up to a spot near concession stand number 2. Sherlyn's Designs had booth P5 for almost 10 years. In August 2022, I purchased booth 25. Here is a photo of the front of my booth. I also participate in local craft shows. See the Shows tab.
I have taken numerous classes to learn skills such as wire wrapping, crocheting with wire, lamp-working, fusing glass, enameling on metal, folding metal, and soldering metal. I continue to take classes to improve and increase my skills in making jewelry.
In February 2024, my jewelry was juried into Seguin Art League. I have a small lighted case for my necklaces, and I also have an earring rack in the gift shop. Come check out my jewelry and the other beautiful pieces of art at 104 S. Austin St. It's across the street from the old courthouse.
Right now, I'm making a lot of brass jewelry. Some is painted and other pieces have a brass chain and glass or brass pendant. There are two reasons that I do this: one is that brass doesn't tarnish and the other reason is to keep my prices lower. Gold-filled findings and sterling silver findings are quite expensive now. I don't use plated metals
because of quality issues. You can often find me at the Seguin Art League on the third Thursday of each month because that is my day to be a docent.
