The makers of Kantha Jewelry are a group of talented women in India who handicraft the jewelry . Artisans start by carving beads from scraps of wood from a local furniture factory. Next, they cover the beads with repurposed Kantha and Sari fabric. Then they create amazing tactile jewelry using the colorful textile beads.
Through their fair trade partnership they have gained financial freedom, personal independence, and stability. Through their hard work, they have been able to send their children off to school, provide better nourishment for their families, and even purchase homes.
